It’s that time again! It’s time for the annual National AJET Awards!
Every year National AJET recognises some of the outstanding contributions JET participants have made to their local communities. If you know an individual or prefectural AJET chapter that fits this profile, please nominate them for one of the following categories listed below. Self-nomination is encouraged, so don’t be shy – go for it!
Please send your nominations to awards@ajet.net or by using the form below. In your nomination please include your name, contact details, prefecture, the name and address of the group/person you are nominating and a description of the event, act or service you believe deserves recognition. Please include as many details as possible. Scans of publications, links to websites, event photos, feedback and any other relevant material is welcome.
The deadline is Friday May 20. The deadline has been extended for until May 25th for the Best Online Resource Award and Special Interest Group (SIG) Award.

Here are the categories…
- AJET Chapter Award
For the Prefectural Chapter that has provided the most outstanding service to its members and to the broader JET community. Points of consideration include community support, communication within the chapter (keeping JETs informed and involved), social events, and fundraising. - AJET Service Award
For the individual AJET member/officer who has contributed outstanding service to AJET and the JET community, through representation, dedication, and vision for the future. This award is an opportunity for us to recognize those who have encouraged JET interaction with the local community and helped organized outstanding AJET events, programs or services. - Internationalization Award
For the AJET Group or individual that has organized, in the past year, the most outstanding event or project that specifically targets involvement and interaction with the local community. Points of consideration include aims, participation, internationalization, intercultural communication and how the community benefits. - Best Charity Event Award
Any AJET Chapter or individual that has put together a particularly memorable charity event. Points of consideration include money raised, creativity, charities supported, participation of AJET members and local community. - Best Sports Event
For the AJET Group or individual that has organized, in the past year, the most outstanding sports event or project. Points of consideration include participation of JETs and community members, effective management, positive feedback from participants, creativity and originality. - Best Online Resource Award
For the AJET Group that provides the most outstanding online services to its members, including websites, online magazines, bulletin boards, forums, or any other kind of online medium. Points of consideration include readership, content, design, reliability , regularity and educational resources. - Best Publication Award
For the AJET group that provides the most outstanding coverage of local events, lifestyle information, news and other content in a printed format. Points of consideration include readership, content, design and regularity. - Best Inter-Prefectural Event/ Project
For the AJET Group that has organized, in the past year an outstanding event or project, that has attracted significant numbers of JETs from more then one prefecture. Points of consideration include participation, community benefit, creative expression, aims and originality. - Special Interest Group (SIG) Award
For the Special Interest Group that has provided the most outstanding service to its members and to the broader JET community.
