Internationalisation Awards Programme

Purpose

The National AJET Internationalisation Awards Programme was created to recognise members of the Japanese community who have made a positive impact in increasing international awareness in Japan, by offering support to JET Programme participants or otherwise devoting their time and effort to internationalisation in their local communities. We hope this programme will encourage those who work with JETs in non-classroom settings to continue to strive for excellence and support the aims of the JET Programme through their actions.

Programme Details

1. Any JET Programme participant (ALT, CIR, SEA) may nominate a member of the community who has made exceptional efforts to improve international awareness, either in the community or the workplace.
2. Nominations are made by using the online Internationalisation Awards nomination form including a submission of between 250-500 words to the AJET CIR Representative.
3. Nominations will be accepted in either English or Japanese.
4. Multiple nominations may be submitted by the same JET participant.
5. Nominations are accepted by the AJET CIR Representative between February 2nd and April 2nd.
6. Entries are judged by the AJET National Council.

Judging Criteria

1. Entries should describe in as much detail as possible why the nominee deserves an internationalisation achievement award.
2. The judges will consider the following when evaluating entries:
   1. The initiation of activities to promote international awareness/understanding;
   2. The support and promotion of a JET Programme participant’s grass-roots internationalisation activities;
   3. Personal commitment to being internationally aware, and the ability to work well with people of different cultural backgrounds;
   4. The integration of international affairs and the international world-view into multiple aspects of work or daily life.

Recognition

Nominees who clearly demonstrate any or all of the judging criteria will receive a letter of recognition, along with a certificate of achievement, sent by the AJET CIR Representative announcing their nomination by a JET Programme participant for this National Internationalisation Award.
