Election Rules

AJET National Council elections are as follows:

  1. JETs who are interested in running for an elected position on the AJET National Council (Chair, Vice Chair, Treasurer, Block/CIR Representative), are advised to read through the Application Rules and Guidelines carefully before submitting their applications.
  2. Once the deadline for application submissions has passed, all candidates’ platforms will be posted on the AJET website. Online voting for elected positions will begin on Monday 10th April 2017 at 12:00 pm and close at 11:59 pm on Sunday 23rd April 2017.
  3. CAMPAIGNING ON SOCIAL MEDIA IS NOT PERMITTED UNTIL MONDAY 10th APRIL 2017.
  4. The National Council’s Election Committee will collate the votes and determine the winners of each election. The results of the election will be posted within two weeks of the end of the election.
  5. Submissions made for Appointed Positions will be considered jointly by the outgoing holders of each position and the outgoing executive officers during the election period. Candidates for Appointed Positions will be informed of their application results by the end of April.

IMPORTANT NOTE: There is to be NO negative campaigning. Candidates should run on their merits and not attempt to create a negative environment for their competition. Any negative campaigning, even by third parties, can have consequences for candidates, possibly including disqualification from the election. If you have someone supporting you, make sure they do it in a positive and respectful manner.

The deadline for platforms to be submitted by email is 23:59 on Friday, 17th March 2017. NO EXCEPTIONS.

  • The National Council is not responsible for lost or misdirected platforms.
  • The Vice Chair, , will confirm that AJET has received your platform.
