ZenZen

What? Why? Free?!

Zenzen strikes back

So I have been asked to write a blurb, a commentary on zenzen. What can I say other than it is here to educate. If Zenzen was to have a mantra, if I was to meditate on the meaning of Zenzen, it would be "funny, interesting and relevant."

This is a magazine about Yamaguchi ALTs for Yamaguchi ALTs. Let's inspire. It has photos of ALTs, some, more flattering than others. There are articles written by ALTs. The great thing about this programme is that you will have plenty of free time to write on just about anything … tissue paper, bark, and concrete. Then you send it in. If it goes through my strenuous veto process, i.e. it doesn't say anything bad about me, then there is a good chance that it will be published.

Why do we need Zenzen? Why do we need rhetorical questions? Both excellent questions. We need Zenzen because we need a place to vent about our lives. It is a forum about Japanese culture. It is a place to laugh, like only we gaijins can. God damn it, it kills an hour or two in the office. That has got to be worth something.

When you sign on with AJET, you get a free copy every time we meet. "The best things in life a free." Do you know which philosopher said that? Will Smith.
